Welcome to Goldfinch Class
Mrs Hancock is the Class Teacher and Mrs Meadowcroft, Mrs Stokes and Mrs Roberts are the Learning Support Assistants who work alongside her. All of us have high expectations of the Year 4 and 5 children we work with. In class the students are prepared to be challenged and are keen to get involved in their learning, encouraging and supporting each other and enjoying what they do.
Each day there is an early morning activity to ensure the children are constantly revising and applying what they have learnt. At the moment, on a Wednesday, the children 'pledge' to learn a specific times tables. The following Wednesday afternoon, the children take their 'pledge' and are tested on their multiplication and division facts associated with that times table. Together we celebrate success or encourage each other to try again.
Every Wednesday the children are given Spelling homework - spelling words and an activity to reinforce the spelling rule and they are tested the following week, writing their spelling word within sentences via dictation. This also reinforces punctuation and grammar!
You can view the half termly quests with details of the subjects and key learning points on the curriculum page.
Children are reminded to have their PE kit (a change of t-shirt is essential please!) Trainers are necessary to put on instead of school shoes because it is wet and slippery under foot. With the weather ever changing, navy jogging bottoms and a jumper could be useful too.
If you have any questions or would simply like to see what’s happening, please do pop in to see us at the beginning or end of the day!
